Conference SCHEDULE
Tuesday, October 24, 2023
8:15 – 8:50 am Facilitators & staff check-in and are assigned tasks
9:00-9:30 am Students arrive and are individually assigned to a table. Facilitators collect and double-check their Table #s as they arrive.
- Students make their Name Cards (materials provided)
- Students complete the BEFORE section of their Research Survey
9:30 Greetings, guest speakers, and Giant Step Pledge.
9:50 Coordinator conducts “Let’s Get Loose” tension reliever.
Adults move to Education Workshop.
9:55 Facilitators begin table discussions. Play Who Will Survive game and other ice-breakers as needed. Facilitators should:
Review purpose
Discuss and determine ground rules
11:40 7th inning stretch to invigorate students (5 minutes)
11:45 Lunch: Students are called by table to buffet style pizza. They can bring their cell phone to take a photo in the Big Green Foot.
Discussions continue through lunch.
12:20 pm Lunch ends. Each table has 15 minutes to prepare a 1-minute report and assign a presenter. The report consists of 2-3 things the group learned at Giant Step — NOT a list of every topic discussed.
12:40 Teachers & counselors re-join students. Student reports begin.
1:30 Students and facilitators complete AFTER surveys and evaluations.
Leave all evaluations and surveys in designated envelopes on the table.
Conference ends.
